It’s known as stooping, and it’s how New Yorkers acquire free secondhand furniture from the city’s curbs.In essence, someone who no longer requires their old mid-century coffee table places it on the sidewalk in front of their home, where it may be picked up by anybody who might find it helpful.

Stooping is a long-standing practice, but it was given a modern twist in the summer of 2019 when a Brooklyn couple started an Instagram account to help castaways find new owners.They named it Stooping NYC and began giving whatever the streets had to offer without hesitation.
